Animal loyalty stories. Animals are our best friends, sharing our everyday lives and many experiences. That is why there are so many stories and adventures involving them. This article contains the most beautiful stories that have happened, testimonies to our beloved pets’ uniqueness and infinite goodness.

Hachiko, Güero and Tuta have a bond that goes beyond death.

Hachiko

A well-known story is that of the Akita breed dog, Hachiko. This big dog showed excellent fidelity to its owner, who passed away suddenly on 21 May 1925. The dog waited for him for almost ten years at Shibuya station, where the man went to work every day.

He was a professor at the Department of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Tokyo. Every day, he went to the station accompanied by his four-legged friend, who waited for him on time when he returned from work.

Following the death of his beloved owner, Hachiko came to the station every day, waiting in vain for his return. He was not stopping despite the endless waiting and the animal's advancing age. He finally died in March 1935 at eleven, still convinced that he would see his dear owner again.

Hachiko never ceased to prove his effect and loyalty and, therefore, became an emblem of absolute loyalty in Japan. To celebrate this, in April 1934, the sculptor Teru Ando created a bronze statue with his likeness, which was placed at Shibuya station and later erected in Odate, his hometown.

Over the years, this story of unconditional and everlasting love became so famous that it became the subject of books and films, including the famous movie ‘Hachi: A Dog’s Tale‘ starring Richard Gere.

Güero

There are many other stories similar to Hachiko’s of dogs who go to their owner’s workplace every day, waiting for him at the door, outside the hospital, or at the grave, in the vain hope of seeing him return to them.

This is also the story of Güero, a dog who waited eight months outside the hospital in Mexico for his deceased owner. This dog’s devotion begins with the man’s admission and the animal’s attempt to follow him inside the hospital of Aguascalientes, which was prevented for hygiene and security reasons.

However, his love and loyalty went beyond physical boundaries, so much so that the animal decided to wait for his best friend at the hospital’s entrance, where he last saw him. His loyalty and stubbornness impressed the hospital employees, who finally decided to take care of him, trying to restore his lost affection.

Tuto

Similar is also the story of Tuto, a thirteen-year-old Italian dog who managed to escape from the home of the family looking after him while waiting to be fostered to reach his old home, where he lived with his beloved owner, who had been dead for a year, in the hope of being reunited with him.

These, and many others, are touching testimonies of the exclusive and unbreakable bond between man and his pet, concrete demonstrations that a dog’s love lasts forever and crosses all boundaries, even that of death.

Billy, the grey and white cat who helped a child with autism gain confidence and overcome small but fundamental barriers.

Billy and Bob: hope and rebirth

Billy’s Stories of loyalty and patient waiting go hand in hand with those of hope and rebirth, such as the one told in the book ‘When Fraser Met Billy’ by Louise Booth. This originates from a true story of a cat and his little human, a child with autism who has difficulty communicating and dealing with his surroundings.

Giving him confidence, peace of mind and understanding is a grey and white kitten from the cattery in Aberdeen (Scotland), who unknowingly changed his future and that of his family.

CATS and DOGS are SPECIAL CREATURES, capable of reading people’s souls and getting inside them.

With patience and devotion, Billy has helped the child gain confidence and overcome small but fundamental barriers, such as climbing stairs, touching, and communicating with greater calm and control.

Bob

The wisdom and ability to understand human difficulties typical of cats are also behind the story of James and his cat Bob. This reddish kitten managed to save his owner from the world of drugs by his mere presence and closeness.

The boy was a homeless drug addict who performed on the streets of London with his guitar to raise some money. Also participating in his show was Bob, an injured foundling whom the man immediately took care of.

The special bond between James and his red cat prompted the man to find the strength to get sober, endure the darkest moments, and change his life. James told his story in a book, ‘A Street Cat Named Bob’, which became a bestseller, showing how this unpredictable and miraculous encounter in 2007 gave them both a second chance. Cats are, therefore, also extraordinary creatures, able to read people’s souls and enter them.

Hero animals: Zippy, Geo and Duke

There are also stories of hero animals who, driven by unconditional love for their
their own family, braved death to keep those they loved safe.

Zippy

This is the story of Zippy, a Jack Russell who, in Florida, saved his owners from the flames with his insistent barking. A fire broke out in their attic at two o’clock, and only Zippy knew it. His alertness and courage enabled his owners to get to safety, but unfortunately, he did not make it. After warning his family, he was unable to escape the now-too-high flames.

Zippy, the Jack Russell terrier who saved his owners from a fire by barking insistently.

Geo

Then there is Geo, an eight-month-old puppy, who saved his little owner, Charlie, who was about to be hit by a truck. The dog intervened, pushing the child away and getting run over instead.

Duke

Finally, let us mention the story of Duke, a dog who came three times into his owners’ room one night and jumped on the bed to wake them up and attract their attention. The dog then led the couple to the bedroom of their nine-week-old daughter, Harper, who had stopped breathing. Duke’s call was instrumental in rescuing the newborn girl.

We have reported just a few of the many stories that feature our four-legged friends, which are concrete evidence of how deep and indissoluble the bond we share with them is.

Above all, they confirm that animals have a good, pure soul and that no one knows how to love us and remain faithful to us as much as they do in every situation and throughout our lives.
