Dog-friendly hotel in Lancashire. You can’t miss the Lawrence Hotel if you are in or near Padiham in Lancashire for holidays or otherwise. The Lawrence Hotel on Church Street was named the most dog-friendly business in Lancashire at the Lancashire Tourism Awards.
In an interview by the Telegraph Lancashire with hotel manager Michael Huckerby, it is clear why the business won the award as the venue has pet lovers at its heart.
The kind words of Director Michael Huckerby
In the interview, director Michael declared words of kindness towards animals: ‘Dogs are part of the family, and to be recognised as a pioneering place in dog hospitality, as well as taking care of their owners, is fantastic.”
“When we started the business, we knew we would be dog-friendly. I am pretty shocked that some hotels don’t allow them. You should bring yourself and the people you care about when you leave – including dogs. Guests say it’s great to have an exclusive venue that accepts dogs.”
The hotel also has its resident dog, Hetti, the five-year-old Cocker Spaniel, who has become a local celebrity.
Michael said: “When we first moved to Padiham, our spaniel ran away, and the community came together to look for her. A local councillor got on his bike and helped us search. A butcher and a hairdresser closed their shops to help us in the search. She is a bit of a local celebrity here in Padiham, and everyone knows her.”
Dogs are allowed to roam and are even invited to breakfast and dinner, where a dog menu is available. They have even been invited to the wedding ceremonies held at The Lawrence.
Michael said: “Dogs are welcome everywhere in the hotel, and the rooms are cleaned thoroughly afterwards. We have had dogs that are ring bearers at wedding ceremonies.”
“We also work with a dog walking company, who stay upstairs with the dogs while you enjoy the night. Our next goal is to organise a doggy wedding – that would be great.”
Ideal for walking, the hotel is also located close to some tremendous dog-walking hotspots such as Pendle Hill, Gawthorpe Hall and Memorial Park.
Michael said: “Pets are welcome anywhere in the hotel, but outside, we have some of the best dog-walking areas in the country. So whether it’s a strenuous walk up Pendle Hill or a wildlife-filled walk at Gawthorpe Hall, there’s something for everyone nearby.”
