Pitbull Cries With Joy. A pit bull named Bowie cries joyfully after realising he has been adopted after 1250 days in the kennel. Bowie is an adorable 6-year-old pitbull who had spent most of his life in the shelter after being thrown in the trash by his previous owner when he was just a puppy. He was cared for by volunteers from St. Luis Gateway Pet Guardians.

The association, which runs the local shelter and rescues dogs that have been abandoned or are in difficulty, has been trying for years to find a family that can give Bowie the love he deserves, but the task has not been easy.

The search was so long and exhausting that some volunteers began to fear that the poor pit bull might never find a family.

Bowie was less likely to be adopted as time passed, as people generally preferred to adopt puppies. The big dog was now an adult, and visitors to the shelter often ignored him completely.

When he was still small, he was fostered by a family, but he returned to the kennels after a few months as his new owners could no longer look after him. After meeting his second family, Bowie had no more chances for over three and a half years.

Finally, after telling his story to a local TV station, the volunteers created a genuine interest in him and eventually found him a good family.

Happy news after TV appeal: Pitbull Bowie has found a home

We need the help of all of you and the public listening to us from home to find this puppy home. He is a very polite and good dog; he needs someone to give him a chance.”

Explained Brittany Fleming, rescue dog adoption manager, to KMOV. Whoever adopts Bowie will inherit a bunch of new friends because he has a friendly fan club cheering him on, the woman explained, revealing that the big dog had become quite popular on the web.

The kennel received more than 40 adoption applications in just a few days. After scrutinising the profiles of the families who had offered Bowie a home, the volunteers finally found the perfect candidate.

After meeting her and asking a few more questions to ensure she was a good person, the volunteers introduced her to Bowie, who started to wag his tail in delight after realising he was going home with her.

According to WKYC, to help his new owner take care of him, some anonymous benefactors offered to pay for four free dog training sessions and a professional photo shoot and cover adoption fees.
